Handmade Christmas Magic in Glass

I absolutely love making fused glass Christmas ornaments. There’s just something magical about turning a little piece of glass into a tiny holiday treasure. These are a few ornaments I made and finished just after Christmas last year — and I’m only now getting around to sharing them. (Better late than never, right?) One of my favorites has a little bird in it — and it actually started its life as a plant stake! I managed to break the stake (oops), but instead of tossing it aside, I turned it into a Christmas ornament. I love when “happy accidents” in the studio lead to something even better than the original plan.

Here are the fused glass snowmen ornaments! These little guys were such a hit at one of my craft shows that I completely sold out, so of course I had to head back into the studio and make a few more. Each snowman has its own personality — different hats, colorful scarves, bright noses, and tiny details that make them feel playful and whimsical. I love how fused glass lets me create simple shapes that still have so much character. These ornaments always bring smiles, and I can’t resist making a new batch whenever they find new homes.

I also couldn’t resist trying something new — little fused glass bears! I spotted some adorable bear designs in one of my Facebook glass groups and immediately knew I had to make a few of my own. Aren’t they cute? One is holding a tiny candy cane, and the other has that wide-eyed “oops, I’m adorable” expression that makes me laugh every time I see it. I love bears, so these little ornaments were especially fun to create. Just like the snowmen, each one has its own personality, and they make perfect whimsical additions to any Christmas tree.

I never get tired of making fused glass ornaments — each one is a tiny piece of Christmas magic, full of color, personality, and handmade charm. Whether it’s a cheerful snowman, a whimsical bear, or a “happy accident” turned into something special, these ornaments always bring a smile. And if you’ve ever wanted to try making your own, I also offer fused glass ornament classes in my studio. They’re beginner-friendly, full of creative play, and a wonderful way to create your own handmade keepsakes (or heartfelt gifts) for the holidays. I’d love to welcome you into the studio and share the joy of ornament-making with you.
