It’s All Mine! The fused glass pieces I made just for me!

This blog should come as no surprise to anyone — hi, my name is Karen, and I’m completely addicted to glass, especially fused glass! I love everything about it — creating new pieces, experimenting with colors and textures, and teaching others how to fuse their own glass art. Whether it’s making pieces for hotels, restaurants, or custom orders, each project brings me so much joy. And yes, I also love making special pieces just for myself! Here are a few of the creations I’ve made over the years that I couldn’t bear to part with.

Well, it’s that time again! I recently had a class with Kim, and she made the most beautiful, fused glass poppy that I absolutely fell in love with — so of course, I had to make one for myself. The first few rows in the photos are my poppies, and the last row shows Kim’s stunning fused glass creation. You can see why I couldn’t resist making one of my own! I did change mine up a bit — I added different flowers and even included a few murrine details like a bee, dragonfly, butterfly, and ladybug. Each little touch adds personality and makes the piece feel alive. I’ve always loved flowers, and this poppy piece just makes me smile. Now I just have to decide how I’m going to display it — I’m leaning toward having a custom display stand made especially for my fused glass poppies.

Ironically, in preparation for Kim’s class, I thought she was going to make a vase, so I decided to make one ahead of time — a vase full of flowers! And I have to say, I absolutely love how it turned out… that’s right, it’s all mine! Isn’t it beautiful? The drape came out perfectly, with graceful folds that give it such an elegant flow, and those colorful flowers make it truly come alive. Every time I look at it, I can’t help but smile.

Every once in a while, it’s nice to make something just for me — no orders, no deadlines, just the joy of creating. Each piece reminds me why I fell in love with fused glass in the first place: the color, the shimmer, and those wonderful surprises that appear when I open the kiln. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my personal collection!

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at fused glass, I’d love to have you join one of my fused glass classes.
