My New 2026 Santa Cruz: My First Truck and a Bold New Chapter

This blog is a bit out of my norm, it’s about my new truck. Hopefully you won’t mind.

After twelve wonderful years with my quirky 2013 Juke, I finally decided it was time for something new. That little car had personality—it wasn’t exactly quick off the line (I always joked it needed to “discuss” whether to go), but it was so ugly it was cute. I loved that it stood out, just like me. When Dan first showed me the Hyundai Santa Cruz back in 2022, I was immediately intrigued. It was unlike anything else on the road—part truck, part SUV, and completely different from the rest. I knew someday, I’d have one.

Now here I am at 60 years old with my first truck ever—a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz! I chose Canon Red, even though some people say it looks orange. Let me set the record straight—it’s red. Definitely red. Orange and I have never gotten along! The color is bold and vibrant, and I love how it reflects my personality. Every time I walk up to it, I can’t help but smile.

The Santa Cruz is the perfect fit for me. It’s easy to get in and out of, comfortable for road trips, and the surround camera system is a total game-changer. I can finally park like a normal person instead of a wacko! It’s got just the right amount of space for my fused glass projects without feeling like I’m driving a big bulky truck. It’s stylish (love the black Santa Cruz on the back), practical, and completely me.

Letting go of my Juke was emotional, but I found peace in knowing it went to a good cause. I donated it to Tunnel to Towers, an incredible organization that supports veterans and first responders. Watching my little car drive away tugged at my heart, but I knew it was the right thing to do. Now it’s off helping others while I’m embracing new adventures with my bright, beautiful (and totally red) Santa Cruz.
