Let It Glow: Adding Magic to My Fused Glass Creations

Back in June, I shared a blog post all about my fascination with glow glass—glass that stores light and glows in the dark, adding a magical touch to any fused glass piece. I featured some of my favorite fused glass creations in that post, and today I’m excited to expand on that glowing journey and show you even more of what I’ve been working on.

I’ve fallen in love with glow dots so much that I decided to revisit a few fused glass pieces that hadn’t quite found their purpose—and wow, they now shine (literally) as stunning suncatchers or even whimsical plant stakes. I started experimenting with some recycled bottle bottoms, and the results are simple yet captivating. In the first row of photos, you’ll see bottle bottoms left without glow dots simply because there wasn’t space to add them. The second-row features bee, dragonflies’ pieces I painted for a different effect—again, no room for glow, but still lovely. The final two rows highlight bottle bottoms with rich textures and perfectly placed glow dots. One standout is the deep blue owl design—it has such charm and character especially when the glow kicks in!

Just like with my bottle bottoms, some of my fused glass suncatchers and plant stakes had the perfect little nooks for glow dots—and others didn’t—but I still adore them all. Whether they glow or not, each one has its own charm and personality. And the great thing about my fused glass glow dots is that they’re glued on, so if inspiration strikes later, I can always add them! They make fantastic gifts or cheerful accents for gardens and windows, bringing a pop of color during the day and a magical glow after dark.

In addition to making them into plant stakes, these four fused glass pieces can also be turned into nightlights! I love how versatile they are. Some of them have glow dots for that extra magical effect when the lights go out, while others shine all on their own. Whether they glow in the dark or simply glow with personality, they’re functional, fun, and totally unique.

Here are eleven more of my fused glass suncatchers—each one featuring glow dots and bursting with personality. I had so much fun incorporating a wide range of techniques into these pieces. You’ll spot everything from decals and copper inclusions to powder wafers, screen prints, and even delicate powder prints. Each one is a little work of art, and the glow dots give them that magical touch when the lights go down. Whether they’re catching sunlight during the day or glowing softly at night, they’re sure to bring joy wherever they hang.

I also brought new life to a few fused glass ornament designs—like these bells I made a while back. I’ve always loved their shape and simplicity, but adding just a few glow dots to the bottom gave them a fresh sparkle. It’s amazing how something so small can transform a piece. Now they shine during the day and glow gently at night—perfect for a tree, window, or even hanging from a shelf year-round.

I also created these fabulous, fused glass plant stakes—and I just love how they turned out! Bright, bold, and glowing flowers with personality, they make any plant pop with color and charm. If only I had a green thumb to match my glass one! 🌱😂

As I mentioned before, some glow brighter than others—but I honestly love them all. Each one has its own character, and whether they shine softly or boldly light up the room, they bring a bit of magic to every project. That’s the beauty of fused glass—no two pieces are ever quite the same, and the glow just makes them extra special.

Whether they’re perched in a plant, catching the sunlight in a window, glowing quietly at night, or simply making you smile—each of these glow glass pieces has brought me so much joy to create. I love experimenting, reimagining, and adding that extra sparkle (literally!) to projects I’ve had sitting around, just waiting for their moment to shine. I hope they brighten your day too—and maybe inspire you to let a little glow into your own creative world!
